Excitedly Font Review: A Childish Handwritten Typeface for Playful Branding

Opening the Brand Board: First Impressions of Excitedly

I was working on a rebrand for a small artisanal toy shop when I first opened the brand board and dropped in Excitedly. The brief asked for something whimsical, approachable, and full of character—perfect territory for a childish handwritten font. Excitedly immediately stood out with its loose, energetic strokes and uneven baseline. It doesn’t try to be perfect, and that’s exactly what makes it feel alive.

This Script Amp font has a distinct personality. It’s not just a casual script; it’s expressive, a little mischievous, and undeniably cute. The lowercase letters have a bouncing rhythm, and the uppercase characters feel like they belong in a child’s storybook. It’s the kind of font that makes you smile just by looking at it.

Logo Design and Brand Identity: Finding the Right Fit

I tested Excitedly on a few logo drafts, and it worked best when used sparingly. As a primary logotype, it brought a strong emotional tone—fun, youthful, and imaginative. But it also has quirks that can be distracting if overused. For instance, some letters like the lowercase “g” and “y” have exaggerated tails that can catch the eye in a way that might not suit every brand.

In the toy shop project, I ended up using Excitedly as the secondary logotype for a sub-brand aimed at toddler toys. It paired beautifully with a clean sans serif for contrast. The combination gave the brand identity a balanced voice—playful yet professional, expressive yet legible.

Packaging and Print: Bringing Excitedly to Life

One of the most telling tests was placing Excitedly on a packaging mockup. I used it for a small batch of organic cookie boxes, where the brand voice was warm and handmade. At a 36pt size on the box flap, the font held up beautifully. It had a charming, personal touch that elevated the product from generic to boutique.

However, I noticed that when scaled down below 18pt, especially on printed materials like business cards, some of the letterforms started to blur together. The whimsy remained, but clarity suffered. This font is best used as a display font or headline font—ideal for packaging labels, social media headers, or product tags, but not for long body copy or small print.

Web and Social Media: Digital Performance

For the toy shop’s website header, I embedded Excitedly as a webfont. It loaded smoothly and rendered well across devices. On the homepage hero section, it gave the brand a strong first impression—immediately conveying a sense of joy and creativity. I used it for the main tagline rather than navigation, which worked well for visual hierarchy.

In social media layouts, Excitedly came into its own. Whether used for quote graphics on Instagram or CTA buttons on Facebook ads, it drew attention without feeling forced. It’s a great choice for designers looking to add personality to digital marketing assets, especially when targeting younger audiences or creative niches.

Font Pairing and Practical Use

Pairing Excitedly with other fonts is key to making it work in a broader brand system. I found that pairing it with a minimalist serif like Playfair Display or a warm sans serif like Quicksand created a nice contrast without clashing. Avoid pairing it with other scripts or overly decorative fonts, which can make layouts feel chaotic.

As a script font, Excitedly shines best when used for short phrases, headlines, or accents. It’s not a workhorse font for body text, but it’s a standout when used as a decorative or display typeface. The font includes multiple styles and alternates, which helped me customize the look for different brand applications. I especially appreciated the alternate characters that gave me more control over the flow and rhythm of text blocks.

What to Watch Out For

While Excitedly is a delight to work with in the right context, it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution. It lacks the precision and neutrality needed for formal corporate branding or technical editorial design. If your project requires small-size legibility, long-form readability, or a more mature tone, you’ll want to look elsewhere.

Also, always check the commercial licensing before using Excitedly in client work, especially for packaging, merchandise, or templates. Many premium fonts offer different licenses depending on usage, so confirm that you have the right permissions for your intended application.

Final Take: When Excitedly Works Best

Excitedly is a playful, expressive handwritten font that adds warmth and personality to branding projects. It’s ideal for creative studios, handmade shops, children’s products, bakeries, cafés, and local businesses that want to feel approachable and unique. Used thoughtfully, it can elevate your brand’s visual tone and help you stand out in a crowded market.

If you’re working on a project that calls for a sense of joy, innocence, or spontaneity, give Excitedly a try. Just remember to test it in real design contexts—mockups, print samples, and web previews—before locking it into your final deliverables. Like any expressive font, it’s most powerful when used with intention.
